"Supreme Cream Team's Hype Men"

When it comes to artists in the industry performing and showcasing, whom do we really know runs the show behind the scenes?  There are so many DJ’s, Up and coming artist’s and the management that they bring or that they need is all part of the equation.  But who is the man or woman that has the microphone that’s walking around to gather everyone up and sometimes next to the DJ? Lets just say that person right there is the “Hype” Man.

Today I had the opportunity to interview Leon Pace, one third of Supreme Cream Team.  Originating from Hinesville, Georgia Supreme Cream Team was established in 2008 and it is still going.  Leon, Sharon and Capone are brothers that stood up the team.  They all come from different walks of life and can carry multiple disciplines.  With all their talents, resource and network they have put all of their knowledge together and put it out on the table and with that said their business has blossomed throughout the years that artists, promoters and managers have requested their services.

My brief interview with Leon is as follows:

LegaZy D PromotionZ Management Group: Well Good afternoon Leon and This will be brief and we will be on our way.

LegaZy D PromotionZ Management Group: What is your title and what do you do within the company?

Leon:  We do not really have titles, when we started we had said to each other (Sharon and Capone) that we would just do our thing and that we would do our own leg work without a street team.

LegaZy D PromotionZ Management Group: Have you ever encounter people that have tried to trick you into the business with any promotions in your years with the company?

Leon:  Most definitely, we have had a couple people try to mess us over and try to take over our hustle.  When I say our hustle, it’s like taking the time to talk to which involves money!  Time is always money and that we both know from being prior service in the Military that you cannot trust anyone.  You must verify and trust.  I have been a people person and carried my discipline from my upbringing.  There was an instance just a couple months back where the promoter and or the booking agent were not in line with everything and my brothers and affiliates from the team had to verify the artist and whether he was performing or not.  We ended up having to drive all the way to Alabama.  Just so happens that one of the affiliates from the team was from Alabama. So with that said the artist did in fact show up there and we had got a free performance from the artist since we had to go through the unverified situation. Everyone was satisfied.

LegaZy D PromotionZ Management Group: How do you separate the people from the problem when you do your negotiations with artists, promoters and managers?

Leon:  Like you said earlier when you introduced yourself.  Everything is black and white.  Once negotiation starts when an incident that there is an artist no show and it becomes a loss for our company.  We are family oriented company where we all have bills and children to feed and like we talked about, time is money.  Everything is on a proposal and a contract whether adjustments have been arranged, it will annotate in the contract for the event that they want the company to host.

LegaZy D PromotionZ Management Group: How do you handle positional bargaining tactics within your location?

Leon:  Well like we previously talked about, when people talk about Savannah, Georgia; everyone knows where that is at, but when you mention Hinesville, Georgia everybody is like where is that?  Hinesville is a little town southwest of Savannah and an hour or so from Jacksonville, Florida.  We have to do a little more for instance put out flyers and go around to the surrounding smaller towns to promote what artist we bring in Hinesville.

LegaZy D PromotionZ Management Group: Can you give me an example of how you worked toward mutual benefit when you were negotiating a deal with the artist in regards of the Alabama event?

Leon:  The person that we were dealing with didn’t inform us about the artist and the no show that happened in Alabama just made it more complicated for business because one of the affiliates was from Alabama and it made him and his crew look real bad.  Which was soon determined months later after the promoter had called back.  Although all agreements were in black and white things happen and lack of communication became an issue.  We later made it clear to the middleman or the booking agent that business doesn’t work that way and it was very unprofessional.  However, the artist did come through and performed for free due to the issue and we have developed a better relationship with the artist.

LegaZy D PromotionZ Management Group:  Last question.  How can your company be reached?

Leon:  Anyone can reach us at yeahbuddy81@gmail.com, Supreme Cream Team on Facebook and @MrYeahBuddy81 on Twitter.

LegaZy D PromotionZ Management Group:  Well Leon Thank You for sharing your story with us.  Keep up the GREAT work “Supreme Cream Team” in motivating and making sure that all the venues are hyped in Hinesville, Georgia and surroundings.

So there you go.  When it comes to events and venues, I definitely will recommend Supreme Cream Team to be a part of my Hype Team.  The years of experience and the knowledge not only from the streets, but also the Military, these brothers can definitely bring the crowd alive in any convention along side any industry.

"Veteran's Day the true meaning of 11-11-11"

Today I would like to observe and recognize our Armed Forces.  Veterans Day happens to fall on Sunday this year, so the federal holiday would be tomorrow Monday and it is observance day.  The holiday is celebrated on November 11 annually.

Honoring the living veterans of the First World War, Veterans has transformed what originally as Armistice Day inclusively of members of the Armed Forces in all times.  It is a national holiday and remembrance to recognize all who served regardless of components, branch and or duty status that is Reserve, National Guard and or Active.

In 1918 the 11th hour, 11th day, and 11th month marked the armistice between Germany and Allied Nations. We observe Veteran’s Day in Honor and give thanks to all military personnel who served in the United States in all wars.

Personal memories of these past seventeen years have made me so proud of the things I have done to help serve and provide for the needs of my country.  As late President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the day should be “filled with solemn in the heroism of those who died in country’s service and with gratitude for victory”, I definitely feel that a round of applause is very necessary.

I feel that it is necessary that this day will always be recognized and not forgotten.  Today President Obama delivered his speech in Arlington, Virginia to recognize all veterans in Garrison and or deployed in harms way.  According to Huffington Post, President Obama recognized all veterans on the 11th hour, 11th day and 11th month.

I would just like to thank all of my comrades here in Garrison and down range in Afghanistan for all their hard work.  Congratulations to our Commander in Chief for a very uplifting week and day in remembrance.

Army Soldier’s Creed:

“I am an American Soldier.
I am a Warrior and a member of a team.  I serve the people of the United States and live the Army Values.
I will always place the mission first.
I will never accept defeat.
I will never quit.
I will never leave a fallen comrade.
I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in my warrior tasks and drills.  I always maintain my arms, my equipment and myself.
I am an expert and I am a professional.
I stand ready to deploy, engage, and destroy the enemies of the United States of America in close combat.
I am a guardian of freedom and the American way of life.
I am an American Soldier.”

Interview with SLIZZ from Official GS BOYZ

National Recording group GS BOYZ.

Rumor has it that American Hip Hop Group GS BOYZ is coming out with something new.  I had the blessing and opportunity to have worked these fellas when I was doing my promoting days in Killeen, Texas.  Then I was stationed there for the United States Army and did most of my work
with the industry during the weekend when I wasn’t in the field.  I was helping out several clubs in Killeen and tried to bring local artist in town to get booked for shows and events.  To make a long story short I had got in touch with one of my clients and old friend SLIZZ from the group.  I had a telephonic conference with SLIZZ but that was too simple for me.  So I decided to allow SLIZZ to answer most of my questions via video.  So please, pay very close attention to what he is about to reveal and to cut out all the rumors.

In The Hands of Faith

Jacquevias James Watkins was born on May 20, 1990 in Miami, Florida.   Ever since elementary school, James has had the hunger to play football.  In high school he played junior varsity and varsity for Hialeah High School as a strong safety.  He had great plans for college and his future.  He had various offers from colleges during his senior year.  James graduated high school in May of 2008.

With the powers that be James got a full ride scholarship to Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA. in 2008.   The following year he was to and to start playing football and academics in the Fall 2008 to college and live his dream.

While time flew by, James decided to work at a local warehouse and Kentucky Fried Chicken in Miami.  Time flew by some more and he was having thoughts of a change and just to get away.

Unfortunately, he had to separate himself from his long time dream of becoming the football player that he wanted to be.  He turned down the full scholarship for Georgia Institute of Technology.  Football is his mind, body and soul.  He never made it to Georgia Tech to play college ball.

At this time he bargained with his dream against reality.  While football was already in the rear view mirror, James decided to check his faith in asking about joining the military service for the one weekend a month and two weeks a year that is the Army Reserves.  This way he would be closer to family and friends in Florida.

Since James didn’t get to go to Georgia, he decided to join the Army Reserves that would keep him in the state of Florida.  He made a split decision on the last day of his contract to join the Active Duty Army instead of being in the Reserves.  In 2009 James was shifted off to Basic Training in Fort Benning, Georgia.  This was an eight-week rigorous training and the followed by Advance Individual Training.  After his training he would be a civilian slash Soldier back at home.  James decided to bargain with faith again with his position since he made a mutual decision and had the best alternative to a negotiated agreement, that he went on ahead and became a part of the Active Duty Military.  James told the recruiter that he wanted a different job and that he wanted to be on Active duty Army that is 24 hours, 7 days a week job.  With that change he then would have a status of a Regular Army Soldier and not a Reservist.

He also negotiated with the recruiter to have his Military Occupational Skills changed from a Signal enlisted Soldier to an Infantryman.  He does not blame anyone for the decisions that he made.  James went on and spent roughly three years in the Military with one deployment overseas to Iraq for the Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn.  With faith on his side James had decided he wanted a change.  He decided to go ahead and finish out his term in the Military.

Currently James lives in Georgia and has a son named JJ.  He has decided to fulfill and finish what he has started which was college and his education.  James decided to get his Bachelors degree in Sports Marketing and Media at Full Sail University.

As always with faith on his side, James is an incumbent to the Hinesville Hurricanes Semi-Pro Football Team for the 2013 Football season.  He will be an asset to the Hinesville Hurricanes with his knowledge of football.  Unfortunately it will not be for college and or NFL, although not a paid job, he steadily enjoys his dream of playing football.  Uniforms will be provided in exchange for his time to play football.  With that said, this is what James wanted to do.

Bottom line I think James made GREAT sacrifices and faith seems to be on his side with whatever productive things that he has to do and offer the community.
